UN Climate Summit and International Trade:
Yet Another Missed Opportunity

This week, as world leaders gathered in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, the secretary general Ban Ki-Moon, convened a “Climate Summit” to seek commitments from governments and encourage complementary action by the private sector. However welcome these steps are, they do not go far enough. The Secretary General missed a huge opportunity to outline a “whole of the United Nations approach” to climate change and draw together the work of various agencies under one overarching global priority.
